Baseball Game Preview: Regents Knights vs. Bishop Dunne Falcons

The Regents Knights will take on the Bishop Dunne Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Regents is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Regents got the win against Brentwood Christian by a conclusive 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Jack Buerkle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Regents' success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Buerkle was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Regents got a big performance out of Cash Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Nelson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlyle Spicer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Regents hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brentwood Christian struck out ten times.

Meanwhile, Bishop Dunne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 10-0 to Brook Hill.

Bishop Dunne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Arellano, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Regents' victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Bishop Dunne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17-1.

Everything went Regents' way against Bishop Dunne in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as Regents made off with a 12-1 win. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
