Baseball Recap: Watkins Memorial Warriors vs. Beech Buccaneers
Watkins Memorial kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Beech Buccaneers by a score of 6-5. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Buccaneers from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.
Brayden Windnagel put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Windnagel was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Tyler Vincent was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jax Dotson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Beech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Watkins Memorial will face off against Zanesville at 5:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Beech, they have already played their next game, a 5-2 loss against Beavercreek on the 29th.
