Sumter extended their winning streak  to seven  on Friday, bumping them up to 8-1. They walked away with  a   36-29  victory over the Ridge View Blazers. That's more bragging rights for the Gamecocks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Leading Sumter to victory were  Franklin Richardson and  Cayon Gordon.  Richardson rushed for 91 yards and four  touchdowns, while  Gordon rushed for 131 yards and one  TD on only 12 carries. Those  four  rushing touchdowns gave  Richardson a new career-high.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sumter was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 278  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridge View only  rushed for 174.
As for Ridge View, they moved to 6-3 with that  defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. The defensive woes were  uncharacteristic for they, who until this  game were averaging 14.11  points allowed.
 When it comes to explaining why Ridge View lost, don't look at  Spencer Bobian. Despite the final result, he rushed for 125 yards and three  scores. Bobian's rushing production has been exceptional  as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 116  rushing yards. Another player making a difference was  Khristian Jackson, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one  touchdown.
 We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Sumter is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Westwood  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Ridge View will  challenge  rival Blythewood  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 811 yards in their previous games.
