Baseball Recap: Carroll Cougars vs. Rossville Hornets
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Carroll and Rossville had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hornets since on Thursday.
Xavier Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Owen Zinn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Coy Lytle, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Rossville, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
