Baseball Recap: High Tech SD Comes Up Short

High Tech SD blew Crawford out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Crawford got their revenge. The Storm fell just short of the Colts by a score of 10-8. The Storm were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Nano Acevedo and Zach Fletcher stepped up to the plate in a big way. Acevedo went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Fletcher went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Acevedo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mikey Ortiz, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

High Tech SD has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Crawford, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Looking ahead, High Tech SD will welcome Pacific Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Storm's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Firebirds have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Crawford, they will head out to take on Mount Miguel at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
