Volleyball Recap: Thornton Fractional South Takes a Loss

Thornton Fractional South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rich Township Raptors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raptors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Saturday.

Thornton Fractional South started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Their offense was headlined by Earehc' Hill and Layla Smith, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Candace Irvin and her 26 assists. Smith and Irvin didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Thornton Fractional South's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Rich Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Thornton Fractional South wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Crete-Monee on the 29th. Rich Township has also already played their next matchup (against Kankakee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
