Softball Recap: Clay County Takes a Loss

Clay County fell victim to South Laurel and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in April.

This is the second loss in a row for Clay County and nudges their season record down to 13-14. As for South Laurel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clay County will welcome Southwestern at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Laurel, they will host Perry County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Commodores have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
