Basketball Recap: Portland Adventist Academy Starts Season with Win Against Rainier

Portland Adventist Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 63-30 victory over the Rainier Columbians. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cougars have posted since January 25th.

Leading Portland Adventist Academy to victory were Dane Petersen and Oliver Thompson. Petersen went 10 for 16 on his way to 24 points and three steals, while Thompson went 9 of 11 en route to 18 points. The game was Petersen's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Villa, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

Rainier is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Portland Adventist Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-26 victory against Sheridan on the 7th. As for Rainier, they will challenge Elmira at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
