Basketball Recap: Harding Takes a Loss

Harding was the 55-39 winner over Austintown-Fitch when they last played one another on January 4th, but their luck changed this time around. The Harding Raiders fell 60-53 to the Austintown-Fitch Falcons on Wednesday. The Raiders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Austintown-Fitch got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rachel Spalding out in front who went 7 for 17 en route to 17 points. Spalding is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Liz Spalding, who posted nine points and five boards.

Harding's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Austintown-Fitch, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.

Harding has already played their next matchup (against Howland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Austintown-Fitch is taking a road trip to face off against Canfield at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Canfield's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home while Austintown-Fitch has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
