Basketball Game Preview: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. Midland Valley Mustangs

Aiken and Midland Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets will welcome the Midland Valley Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Aiken was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to Brookland-Cayce. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Green Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Bearcats are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Midland Valley was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Gilbert 71-36. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.

Midland Valley has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Aiken, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-12.
