Preview: Comenius Knights vs. South Charlotte T Thunder
Comenius and South Charlotte T are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Comenius Knights will get right back to it and host the South Charlotte T Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Comenius has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 51 points or more this season. They blew past Riverwalk Academy 85-23 at home. The victory was just what Comenius needed coming off of a 98-53 loss in their prior match.
Comenius found their leader in underclassman Donovin Jones, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mark Priester, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Charlotte T's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 69-57 to Greater Cabarrus S. The contest was a 34-34 toss-up at halftime, but South Charlotte T was outscored by Greater Cabarrus S in the second.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Luke Rullo and Teddy Helton III. Helton III had a great game and scored 14 points. Meanwhile, Rullo was balling out in the loss, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.
Comenius' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for South Charlotte T, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-7.
Comenius suffered a grim 75-55 defeat to South Charlotte T in their previous meeting back in February. Thankfully for Comenius, Alijah Miller (who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
