Recap: Marshall Rams vs. Brandeis Broncos

The Marshall Rams fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Brandeis Broncos on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 857th, while Brandeis is ranked 399th).

Brandeis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trevor Short out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Philyaw, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Marshall has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Brandeis, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.

Marshall will be playing in front of their home fans against Clark at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Clark focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday. As for Brandeis, they will head out on the road to challenge Lee at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Brandeis likes a good challenge.
