LeBron James watches Sierra Canyon cruise to first-round tourney win

Trailblazers advances to second round of the Classic at Damien behind double-doubles from Brandon Boston Jr. and Shy Odom.

With LeBron James in attendance, second-ranked Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) dominated in all facets Thursday while scoring a 91-58 victory over previously unbeaten Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, Calif.) in a first-round Classic at Damien game in La Verne, Calif.

Kentucky-signee and 5-star recruit Brandon Boston, Jr. paced the Trailblazers (12-0) with a team-high 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Shy Odom added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Amari Bailey chipped in 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals for the winners.

James watched his second Sierra Canyon game of the season, cheering on the Trailblazers and his freshman son Bronny James, who scored four points to go along with a pair of blocks in 15 minutes of action.



"The King," wasn't the only Los Angeles sports icon in the building as former Dodgers' manager, 92-year-old Tommy Lasorda watched with interest.

Sierra Canyon faces off against Birmingham (Lake Balboa, Calif.), a 67-65 first-round winner over Long Beach Poly, in a 7:30 p.m. Friday quarterfinal game.

The Classic at Damien is a five-division tournament, with the Trailblazers participating in the top 16-team Platinum division in La Verne, a 56-mile drive from Chatsworth. Other first-round winners included: Salesian-Richmond (71-70 over St. Bernard), Windward-Los Angeles (67-58 over Liberty Academy) and Rancho Christian-Temecula (73-65 over Dublin).
