Volleyball Recap: Sunset Takes a Loss

Sunset was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Boca Raton Bulls. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Makquiel Velez paced Sunset's offense, picking up 11 kills. Velez got some help from Vincent Jones and his 13 assists. Johan Lorenzo controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

West Boca Raton can attribute much of their success to Donny Lam, who had 13 digs. That's the most digs Lam has posted over his last 11 matches.

Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for West Boca Raton, they moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Sunset didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Wellington on the 15th. As for West Boca Raton, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Pompano Beach on the 15th.
