Baseball Recap: Albany Wins Going Away Against De Anza

Albany won the last time they faced De Anza and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars blew past the Dons 15-4. Considering the Cougars have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bennett Lee looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Mikey Richards was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Preston McGowen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Albany and bumps their season record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for De Anza, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-1.

Albany didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Miramonte on the 7th. As for De Anza, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-5 loss against El Cerrito on the 9th.
