Baseball Game Preview: Sheehan Titans vs. Cheshire Rams

The Sheehan Titans are taking a road trip to take on the Cheshire Rams at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Sheehan gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past West Haven 13-3. The high-scoring effort was just what the Titans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Meanwhile, Cheshire waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Yellowjackets. Considering the Rams have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cal Battipaglia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Battipaglia was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other pitching news, Cheshire got a great performance from Stephen Fitzmaurice as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave Fitzmaurice a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Back at the plate, Johnny Nelson was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Nick Fortune also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Cheshire hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Cheshire now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Sheehan, their record is now 5-3-1.

Sheehan skirted past Cheshire 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
