Edgewood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Monroe Hornets. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Hornets on Wednesday, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

The result came thanks to Leigha Combs's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Edgewood's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Clemmons, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Clemmons has posted since back in March.

Edgewood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Edgewood now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monroe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Edgewood has already played their next matchup, an 11-5 loss against Franklin on the 29th. As for Monroe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Ross on the 30th.
