Football Recap: Mountain Brook Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Parker + How To Watch

Mountain Brook faced Parker in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spartans lost to the Thundering Herd on the road by a 27-11 margin. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Thundering Herd recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Despite the loss, Mountain Brook still got an impressive performance from Cayden Hofbauer, who rushed for 87 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 179 yards on 13 of 28 attempts.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Parker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chancellor Sparks, who rushed for 156 yards and one score on only 15 carries. That's the most rushing yards Sparks has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Miles, who rushed for 119 yards and one TD on only 15 carries.

Mountain Brook's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Parker, the win (which was their 12th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Mountain Brook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 30-27 victory against Hueytown on the 5th. As for Parker, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-3 win against Gardendale on the 4th.
