Preview: Welch Wildcats vs. Wyandotte Bears
Welch is 1-9 against Wyandotte since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Welch Wildcats will square off against the Wyandotte Bears at 9:00 p.m. Welch has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Welch scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They snuck past Quapaw with a 60-54 win.
Welch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Clinton, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Clinton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Colin Damann was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Wyandotte strolled past Commerce with points to spare last Monday, taking the game 61-45. The win was just what Wyandotte needed coming off of a 75-36 loss in their prior contest.
Welch pushed their record up to 5-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Wyandotte, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Welch came up short against Wyandotte when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 53-42. Can Welch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
