Baseball Recap: Leland Chargers vs. Pioneer Mustangs
Leland extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-20 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pioneer Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Wednesday.
Leland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
As for Pioneer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.
On Pioneer's side, Lucas Leese was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Leese has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Kennaday, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
As of now, neither Leland nor Pioneer have any future games scheduled.
