There's no place like home for Newton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Richland County Tigers on Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in September.

Newton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-18, 25-11.

Claire Probst paced Newton's offense, picking up seven kills. Probst got some help from Paige Wagner and her 13 assists. Morgan Schafer controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Richland County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Newton has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Grayville on the 18th. As for Richland County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on the 18th.
