Recap: Williamsburg Christian Academy Eagles vs. Guardian Christian Academy Royal Knights
The matchup between the Williamsburg Christian Academy Eagles and the Guardian Christian Academy Royal Knights on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Williamsburg Christian Academy came out on top against Guardian Christian Academy by a score of 73-63. Winning may never get old, but Williamsburg Christian Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Williamsburg Christian Academy was led to victory by Jack Marlowe and Legend Bunch. Marlowe scored 20 points, while Bunch scored 24 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Bunch has scored at least 25% of Williamsburg Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Sheppard, who scored 11 points.
Guardian Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tierre Brown, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The game was Brown's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Aaron Kuhn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
The victory got Williamsburg Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Guardian Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamsburg Christian Academy will challenge Bruton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Guardian Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Veritas School at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
