Softball Recap: Louisa County Comes Up Short

Louisa County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Monticello on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-1 to the Mustangs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 3, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Lily Ruckle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Louisa County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Louisa County dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Monticello, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Louisa County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fluvanna County at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Monticello, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spotswood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
