Southern Connecticut Division I - West recap October 29, 2013

Hamden fell to West Haven 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Maliek Williamson ran for 54 yards in the defeat.

Xavier led Southern Connecticut Division I - West in scoring this week by notching 54 points on Notre Dame. Jalen Williams in the win.

Shelton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mark Piccirillo threw for 169 and 1 touchdown and Kyle Drost had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Jason Thompson contributed 123 yards. Thompson helped Shelton's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 64 yards.

Colton Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Fairfield Prep topped Cheshire. He completed 8 passes for 141 yards and also ran for 126 yards. Smith's favorite target this week was John DelliSanti, who caught 2 passes for 43 yards.

Drost was the best receiver in the league this week as the Gaels fell to Hand. Drost tallied 3 receptions for 76 yards. Thompson helped Shelton's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 64 yards.

Shelton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gaels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Piccirillo has thrown for 1,117 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Thompson has 32 catches for 491 yards.

The Jesuits are currently in third, while Amity Regional is in fourth.

The Spartans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,457 from 5,597. The advance stemmed from a 24-7 victory over Wilbur Cross last week.
