Basketball Game Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Douglas Tigers

The Reed Raiders will square off against the Douglas Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Reed lost 58-38 to Bishop Manogue on Wednesday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Douglas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-54 victory over the Lancers.

Douglas had a senior duo take command as Daron Kizer went 7 for 11 en route to 15 points along with eight boards and three steals and Caden Thacker posted 16 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Kizer a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Messick, who earned ten points and three steals.

Douglas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Douglas' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Reed, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Reed took a serious blow against Douglas in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 82-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thacker, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 28 points and six steals. Now that Reed knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
