Basketball Recap: Roswell Falls Short Against Ranked Las Cruces

On Saturday, Roswell faced Las Cruces in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Roswell Coyotes lost 64-40 to the Las Cruces Bulldawgs. The Coyotes just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Danae Pacheco continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Las Cruces, going 7 of 11 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Herrera, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Roswell's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Las Cruces, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roswell will head out to challenge Goddard at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Las Cruces, they will venture away from home to take on Hobbs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Las Cruces comes in on three and Hobbs on 15.
