Baseball Recap: Westview Wins Going Away Against Mission Vista

Westview got themselves on the board against Mission Vista on Tuesday, but Mission Vista never followed suit. They blew past Mission Vista 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Kuy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Westview let Elijah Whelan and Mahir Desai run wild. Whelan scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Desai went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Desai a new career-high. Joseph Arango-Manley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Westview's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Mission Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Westview will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mission Vista: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
