D'Vaughn Pennamon of Manvel ran for the longest rushing play in 5A Region III District 22 this season against Sam Rayburn last week. Pennamon scampered for 68 yards on the play and finished with 102 on the day as his team beat the Texans.

South Houston scaled the state rankings by moving to 688 from 729 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of beating Alvin 40-26.

Deriq King threw for 215 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 7-7 with 0 interceptions.

Reggie Hemphill was the best receiver in the league this week as Manvel bested Sam Rayburn. Hemphill racked up 3 receptions for 118 yards. Gerryk Williams helped Manvel's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 65 yards.

Kirk Martin's team's King and Gary Haynes led 5A Region III District 22 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback King has thrown for 1,345 yards this season, while Haynes has 24 catches for 492 yards. The Yellowjackets' Eric Olszewski leads the league in rushing yards with 719.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pearland takes on second place Manvel. Pearland defeated Pasadena Memorial last week, while the Mavericks bested David Satcher's team.

Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Manvel takes on the Oilers. The Mavericks' offense has racked up 324 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Pearland has allowed only 27 on the year.
