Baseball Game Preview: Central Knights vs. Toll Gate Titans

The Central Knights will head out on the road to take on the Toll Gate Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Central earned a 6-2 victory over Johnston. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Toll Gate, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Narragansett a 4-0 shutout on Monday.

Not much got past Jack Colvin, who gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks to keep Narragansett off the board. Colvin also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Toll Gate is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Toll Gate's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jonah LaFauci, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Toll Gate's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-15. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Central, their record now sits at 11-7.

Central beat Toll Gate 5-1 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
