Softball Recap: Bourgeois Extends Winning Streak to Two

Bourgeois won the last time they faced A.J. Ellender and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bourgeois Braves' pitchers stepped up to hand the A.J. Ellender Patriots a 17-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.

Brylie Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Lachico, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Niah Verdin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Bourgeois' record is now 2-0. As for A.J. Ellender, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Bourgeois will be taking part in a tournament against E.D. White on Saturday. As for A.J. Ellender, they will square off against Thibodaux at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
