Basketball Game Preview: Selma Saints vs. Jemison Panthers

The Selma Saints will face off against the Jemison Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Selma has nine straight wins, Jemison has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Selma is returning to their home court after beating Marion on theirs, despite the fact Marion has dominated at home this season. Selma strolled past Marion with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 49-33. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Rams are ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Samarion Woods, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Blocton, who earned ten points.

Meanwhile, Jemison lost to Montevallo on the road by a 80-61 margin on Thursday.

Selma pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Jemison, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
