Basketball Recap: Mckinley Conner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bethel Assembly Christian Academy over Ahoskie Christian

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost to Ahoskie Christian at home by a 73-55 margin. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 66-46 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKinley Conner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 boards. Conner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Liverman, who posted 15 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Bethel Assembly Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 14 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Ahoskie Christian found their leader in freshman Jaelen Rascoe, who dropped a double-double on 40 points and 23 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Rascoe has scored at least a third of Ahoskie Christian's points. Tyler Martin was another key player, going 8 of 15 en route to 22 points and five assists.

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Ahoskie Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-12.

Bethel Assembly Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ahoskie Christian, they will head out to challenge Terra Ceia Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ahoskie Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Terra Ceia Christian likes a good challenge.
