Softball Recap: Mills Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Mills nor Notre Dame made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since February 28th.

Kalia Woo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Esquivel, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Another was Audrey Jang, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Mills is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.6 runs. As for Notre Dame, they moved to 15-4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mills is set to take on their familiar foe Sequoia at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Vikings have won ten straight at home, while the Ravens won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Notre Dame will square off against rival Terra Nova at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
