Softball Recap: Wolfe County Comes Up Short

If Wolfe County was riding high fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Breathitt County on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves fell just short of the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since April 1st.

Sami Noble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wolfe County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloy Creech, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Wolfe County's defeat dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Hazard, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Wolfe County nor Hazard have any future games scheduled.
