Softball Recap: Nature Coast Tech Has No Trouble Against Zephyrhills

Nature Coast Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Zephyrhills on Thursday. Nature Coast Tech was the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over Zephyrhills. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Izzy Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miranda Wiemer, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Athena Brown, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Nature Coast Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Nature Coast Tech's record now sits at 8-4. As for Zephyrhills, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nature Coast Tech will face off against Springstead at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springstead will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Nature Coast Tech surely won't give up without a fight. As for Zephyrhills, they will take on Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
