Basketball Preview: Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds vs. Furtah Prep Falcons
Notre Dame Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Furtah Prep Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Notre Dame Academy has not done well against the Wildcats recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Notre Dame Academy walked away with a 57-44 victory over the Wildcats.
Dallas Williams went supernova for Notre Dame Academy, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian McElroy, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Furtah Prep didn't have too much trouble with the Scots on the road on Tuesday as they won 60-42. Given Furtah Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Scots are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Notre Dame Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-15. As for Furtah Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Notre Dame Academy was taken down by the Falcons 96-50 when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can Notre Dame Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
