Basketball Game Preview: Gilroy Mustangs vs. Evergreen Valley Cougars

The Gilroy Mustangs will head out to square off against the Evergreen Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Friday, Gilroy came up short against Oak Grove and fell 56-46. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Evergreen Valley entered their tilt with Mt. Pleasant on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 64-46. The Cougars pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cardinals cut but never quite recovered from.

Evergreen Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Gilroy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Gilroy beat Evergreen Valley 58-49 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gilroy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
