Basketball Game Preview: Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans vs. Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks

The Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Veritas Collegiate Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 contests -- so hopefully Norfolk Collegiate likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Veritas Collegiate Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Bayside, taking the game 70-58. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Marlins are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norfolk Collegiate has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 59-49 to Steward on Friday.

Veritas Collegiate Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 88.8 points over those games. As for Norfolk Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Veritas Collegiate Academy beat Norfolk Collegiate 80-70 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Veritas Collegiate Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
