Football Recap: Yorktown Wildcats vs. Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats

It was a proper cat-fight when Yorktown took on Skidmore-Tynan on Friday. The Wildcats walked away with a 39-32 win over the Bobcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yorktown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Metting, who rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 139 yards and one TD on only 13 passes. Metting really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run. Brayden Knostman was another key player, gaining 181 total yards and two touchdowns.

The victory made it two in a row for Yorktown and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points over those games. As for Skidmore-Tynan, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Yorktown will look to defend their home field on Friday against Taft at 7:30 p.m. As for Skidmore-Tynan, they will head out to challenge Odem at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Owls have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
