Softball Recap: Golden Gate Comes Up Short

Golden Gate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-4 to the Lely Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-7 back in February.

Golden Gate saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layla Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Zoey Beaird also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Even though they lost, Golden Gate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Golden Gate's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Lely, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8.

Coming up, Golden Gate will welcome Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lely, they will head out on the road to take on Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lely's pitchers better be ready for this one: Gulf Coast has averaged an impressive 13.2 runs per game this season.
