Basketball Recap: Lodi Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jonah Pandjaitan and Lucas Chan

Lodi Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 59-42 bruising from the Elliot Christian Eagles. The Titans lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 95-26 score last time.

Lodi Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucas Chan, who posted nine points and three steals, and Jonah Pandjaitan, who earned ten points in addition to six boards and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Pandjaitan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zack Kanas, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lodi Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.

Elliot Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremy Nielsen led the charge by putting up 24 points along with six boards and five assists. The contest was Nielsen's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Clayton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Lodi Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Elliot Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Lodi Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-27 defeat against Humphreys Able Charter on the 30th. Elliot Christian has also already played their next contest, a 0-0 win against Don Pedro on the 30th.
