Cape Hatteras unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell 2-0 to the Southside Seahawks on Friday. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

The win made it two in a row for Southside and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Cape Hatteras didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-1 defeat against Lawrence Academy on the 13th. As for Southside, they have also already played their next match, an 8-0 victory against Tarboro on the 10th.
