Recap: Benson Bobcats vs. Desert Christian Eagles
The Benson Bobcats suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Desert Christian by a score of 36-33. Benson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Desert Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Benson still got an impressive performance from Kaylei Taylor, who scored 13 points. That was a full 39.4% of Benson's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Deskins, who scored seven points.
Benson has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Desert Christian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benson will take on Santa Rita at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rita is on a six-game streak of home losses, Benson a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Desert Christian, they will head out on the road to take on San Manuel at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Manuel will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
