Basketball Recap: Red Mesa's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Red Mesa waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They snuck past the Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats with a 51-47 win. For the Redskins, this counts as revenge for the 52-42 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.

Red Mesa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shyla Pipkin out in front who went 5 for 9 on her way to 14 points and seven boards. Pipkin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Ashley Jones was another key player, putting up ten points along with four steals and four blocks.

Despite the loss, Dishchii'bikoh saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ariel Caddo went 6 of 14 en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Cadence Hooke, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points.

The victory got Red Mesa back to even at 10-10. As for Dishchii'bikoh, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-9.

Red Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-32 win against El Capitan on the 25th. Dishchii'bikoh has also already played their next game, a 44-23 loss against St. Michael on the 23rd.
