Baseball Game Preview: Brownsburg Bulldogs vs. Decatur Central Hawks

The Brownsburg Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Decatur Central Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brownsburg will be strutting in after a win while Decatur Central will be coming in after a loss.

Brownsburg can't be too worried about heading out to take on Decatur Central: they just beat Avon at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Orioles by a score of 6-1 on Thursday. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Ethan Gladstein tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Brownsburg let Ethan Cougill and Canyon Koonce run wild. Cougill went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Koonce got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Cougill has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Decatur Central's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 6-2 to Plainfield.

Decatur Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Dalton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Dalton has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Decatur Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Brownsburg, their record is now 8-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brownsburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Decatur Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
