Baseball Game Preview: Sherman Bearcats vs. McKinney Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Sherman Bearcats face off against McKinney Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Sherman blew Braswell out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Braswell got their revenge. Sherman fell just short of Braswell by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bearcats have suffered since May 4, 2024.

While McKinney didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-22-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Heritage a 5-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won four in a row.

Beck Posey was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

McKinney's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Sherman, they dropped their record down to 1-8-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Sherman might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from McKinney in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can Sherman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
