Volleyball Game Preview: Maplesville Red Devils vs. Thorsby Rebels

Maplesville is 2-8 against Thorsby since September of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Red Devils will head out to challenge the Rebels at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Maplesville took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Isabella, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils skirted past the Mustangs 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Maplesville was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (95-90), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-22, 25-16, 13-25, 15-7.

Meanwhile, Thorsby hadn't done well against Isabella recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rebels walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mustangs.

Thorsby had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-11, 25-9, 25-19.

The victory got Maplesville back to even at 4-4. As for Thorsby, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Maplesville couldn't quite get it done against Thorsby in their previous matchup last Thursday as they fell 2-0. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
