Basketball Game Preview: Kirtland Hornets vs. Rootstown Rovers

The Kirtland Hornets will square off against the Rootstown Rovers at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Thursday, Kirtland made easy work of Cuyahoga Heights and carried off a 41-19 victory.

Meanwhile, Rootstown was able to grind out a solid win over Smithville on Saturday, taking the game 47-34. The 47-point effort marked the Rovers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Kirtland better keep an eye on Colbie Curall. She was instrumental in Rootstown's win, putting up 15 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Lough, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Rootstown's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.5 points. As for Kirtland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
