Baseball Recap: Lyon County Wins Going Away Against St. Mary

Lyon County came out on top against St. Mary on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Lyons put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 9-1 win. The Lyons have beaten the Vikings the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.

Korben Lucas and Turner Hurst did most of the damage at the plate: Lucas went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hurst went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Hurst a new career-high. Austin Spears was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Lyon County's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for St. Mary, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyon County will take on Caldwell County at 5:30 p.m. on May 1. As for St. Mary, they will square off against Murray at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
