Baseball Recap: Peebles Comes Up Short

Peebles had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-6 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. The match marked the Indians' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Peebles saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Clark, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Bo Johnson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Lynchburg-Clay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.

On Lynchburg-Clay's side, Christian Flowers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Flowers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Trevor Niehaus was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Cody Bell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lynchburg-Clay beat Peebles by a score of 14-0 on Tuesday.
